Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has netted a BRILLIANT goal on his return to Anfield this evening.
Eddie Howe’s men remain locked in a relegation battle, one from which their billionaire owners will be desperate to emerge.
While fixtures such as Liverpool away will not be considered their greatest opportunity to get points on the board, every point available is worth fighting for – and the Geordies sure are putting up a fight tonight.
Newcastle, facing off against a COVID-depleted Liverpool side, took the lead via a brilliant strike from Jonjo Shelvey, formerly of Liverpool himself, from the edge of the penalty area.

Unfortunately, Shelvey’s moment of individual brilliance counted for very little, with Liverpool’s quality in the attacking third making the difference in the shape of Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah strikes.
Liverpool have a sense of inevitability about them at the moment. Even when they’re not playing at their best, they still seem to blow teams away. They may well be the team to beat in the Premier League title race.
