The former two time Irish Open winner has won his first ever major and it was the US Open the same location where he proposed to his wife and we couldn’t be happier for the Spaniard after what happened to the 26 year old at the start of the month, having being told on the course that he was positive for Covid 19 with a six shot lead at the time.
Rahm also revealed that he received a phone call from the Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington when he was isolating due to Covid 19
“The first person who called me that wasn’t family,” said Rahm at his post-victory press conference on Sunday, “it was right away when I was in the isolation trailer, was Padraig Harrington, and he told me a story in which he was leading by five after 54 holes, signed the wrong scorecard, and got disqualified. He said he got a lot more from that instance, he learned a lot more than he would ever learn from the win.
