Joao Felix has a SLY DIG at Diego Simeone after Portugal win

Joao Felix has hit out at his current manager Diego Simeone with a sly comment after yesterday’s game.

Portugal trashed Switzerland 6-1 with Felix at the heart of everything good that his side did. The win means that Portugal now progresses to the quarter-finals, where they will play Morocco on Saturday.

After the game, Felix talked about how Portugal’s style differs from that of his club Atletico Madrid, clearly aiming a dig at Diego Simeone’s defensive tactics.

“The way you play here and at the club are different,” he told the Portuguese channel Spor TV.

“When the conditions are favourable, things go better. The preparation was the same as the other games. We saw what was best and worst and played because of that, not losing our identity. We played a great game, perhaps the best so far.

“We are focused and believe completely in us. I hope it’s been shown that we have a great team, we know what we want. We have the support of everyone, and won’t be held back.”

Felix was linked away from the club in the summer and those rumours are now beginning to re-emerge after these comments.

The 23-year-old has struggled to play his game in Simeone’s demanding system, with the two recently banging heads. If he was to leave, Atletico would try to recoup some of the £113 million that was spent on the Portuguese striker in 2019.
