Jamie Carragher HITS OUT at Gianni Infantino over 32-team Club World Cup

Ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has hit out at FIFA and Gianni Infantino after they announced the next World Cup will include 32 teams.

The announcement of that 32-team World Cup, which take effect from 2025 onwards, has not been received well by either fans or pundits, and SkySports’ Jamie Carragher has given his opinion on the matter.

Taking to Twitter to voice his anger, Carragher said: “Like the ridiculous idea of FIFAWorldCup every two years, this is another one from Infantino. Players need rest at some point, they are getting treated like cattle. FIFA hate the CL & want something similar themselves. European clubs should boycott it.”

The ever-increasing schedule that top footballers have to contend with is already starting to take its toll, and the Qatar World Cup, whilst being very entertaining, has perhaps seen more injuries than any other instalment of the competition before it.

Is the 32-team World Cup a step too far? Or will it just further enhance the biggest an already global competition?
