The former Irish midfielder and proud Derry native has taken to his Instagram again to clarify where he stands on the poppy remembrance for the month of November.
It’s really not that hard to be fair,  McClean is from Derry and is an Irish republican and the poppy represents British soldiers from all wars. Including the ones that were sent to the North of Ireland and did some unspeakable things ..
Have a look at his statement below and please respect his stance.

This is getting tedious, every year they seek him out hoping he’ll say something that they can twist into a headline that will stir up the bigoted royalists
Why are some British people obsessed with Irish people not wearing the poppy? They don’t seem to bother other nationalities when they don’t wear one, Why Irish?
Brilliant response.
Not aggressive or bitter, makes his point well, educated people a little bit also as many still probably don’t know why. Glad the Wrexham documentary gave him a few minutes to explain as well.
British media can attack him all they want the majority and history is on his side
“Including the ones that were sent to the North of Ireland and did some unspeakable things“
No mention of why they were sent there and the unspeakable things done to them.
An absolute coward
