Before the Premier League gets back underway on Boxing Day, players have a couple more days to relax away from the job and Leicester City midfielder James Maddison enjoyed a day at the Darts World Championships yesterday.

Speaking to Emma Paton and Wayne Mardle on Sky Sports, Maddison, who has just returned from Qatar after representing England at the World Cup, admitted he is a big fan of the darts.

I think it’s known [that I’m a big fan of the darts].

We have a good darts school at Leicester. A lot of the lads play, even the staff play.

We take the board to away games and we stick it up the night before when we’re having down time and the standard is decent.”

The 26-year old tried to stay impartial when Paton asked if he was one of the best players at Leicester, but failed, saying: “I don’t want to come across big-headed but yeah, I am.

Luke Thomas who is with me today would say different but the standard is quite good to be fair.”

Hopefully, Maddison made the most of his day at Alexandra Palace before he heads back to Leicester as the Foxes host Newcastle United on Boxing Day.
