Galway defeated Limerick on Sunday 0-26 to 1-17 the first time Limerick have lost a game in quite a while and the big talking point after the game was the amount of soft frees that were blown for by referee James Owens Limerick manager John Kiely wasn’t one bit happy and neither was Jackie Tyrrell on The Sunday Game last night.
The former nine time All-Ireland winner Tyrrell says he worries where the game is going with all these ‘cotton wool frees’ and insists it’s a contact sport. There was 36 in Galway vs Limerick ‘Glorified free taking contests’ as Tyrrell says.

Galway are looking good again this year though despite the debate about the amount of frees in the game, great to see Joe Canning coming off the bench also after that injury he sustained at the end of last years Championship. Surely will see these two as the two to beat this year in the chase for the Liam McCarthy Cup?
