Brentford striker Ivan Toney has pleaded guilty to several of the 262 betting charges placed against him by the Football Association.

This is according to Matt Hughes of the Daily Mail, who says the Englishman has finally offered his verdict on the accusations.

The allegations rose to prominence back in November, when the 26-year old was accused of breaching the FA’s gambling laws 232 times, before he was charged with 30 more breaches a month later.

Toney played for Scunthorpe, Wigan, Peterborough and Brentford throughout his four-year period alleged betting period of 2017 to 2019, but he hasn’t been accused of betting against any of his own teams.

Hughes reports that Toney’s guilty pledge is likely to result in a ban which will be a massive blow to Brentford and England, with Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate preparing to announce his squad for the European Championship qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine in March.
