The English forward was spotted moving the ball to create a better angle before his stunning freekick on Saturday.
After serving an eight-month ban away from football for gambling, Ivan Toney made his highly anticipated return on Sunday against Nottingham Forest.
The 27-year-old, who captained his side, got his dream return when he hammered home a free kick to level the game after just 19 minutes.
But supporters pointed out after viewing the replay that Toney had moved the ball and the referee’s foam to create a better angle for himself.
Nottingham Forest has since written to the PGMOL directly complaining about it.
“I don’t believe the wall was set up right…” 🧱
Could Nottingham Forest have done more to stop Toney’s strike? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/eWqzlzrUsf
