The 11-year-old Irish fan who ran onto the pitch to get Cristiano Ronaldo’s shirt has been fined £2,500, according to the Daily Mail.
Addison Whelan, an 11-year-old fan of the Irish National Team, was in attendance to watch her side battle for a 0-0 draw against international heavyweights Portugal.
As the full-time whistle blew, Whelan seized her opportunity to run onto the pitch and in the direction of Ronaldo, eluding the stadium security in the process.
She managed to get all the way up to Ronaldo, got a hug from the Manchester United forward AND his match-worn jersey before being pulled away by a steward.

While it was a night to remember for the youngster, who will have considered her decision to run onto the field a success, she has retrospectively been hit with a fine.
The Daily Mail report that she has been billed £2,500 for entering the pitch without permission, a cost that her father is believed to be prepared to cover.
We wouldn’t want to be encouraging people to run onto the field of play – but whose bright idea was it to go around fining 11-years-olds thousands of pounds?
