The proud Limerick native Conor Murray has announced his retirement from the game of rugby union. It was expected and hoped that the Munster man would pick up another contract with another club, but that hasn’t come to pass and Conor Murray has just called it a day.

Not a bad career the man had, having played for the Lions, over 100 caps for Ireland and indeed Munster. We wish him all the best in his next venture.

Seeing today that Conor Murray has officially retired from pro rugby.

Goes without saying that he is a legend of Irish rugby, but what always impressed me most about Murray was the incredible calm he brought regardless of the size of the occasion.

The Limerick native confirmed on The Late Late Show on Friday night that he will be moving up to the city of Derry with his wife and young baby child.

Conor Murray was as fine a scrum half as anything in his prime. The show must go on and there will be more scrum-halves to step up to the plate I’m sure.
