The IMPOSSIBLE could be set to happen between Chelsea and Mason Mount

Chelsea are reportedly preparing contingency plans in case Mason Mount does not extend his contract.

After being drafted into the first-team squad by Frank Lampard following a hugely successful campaign at Derby County, Mount wasted no time establishing himself as a key player.

Mount is now regarded as one of the finest players in the country and has become the unofficial face of Chelsea Football Club – but could that all be set to change?

According to the Telegraph, contract talks between Chelsea and Mount are dragging on, with Chelsea already preparing potential replacements for the England international.

The report claims that AS Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini and Villarreal’s Yeremy Pino have both been earmarked as potential successors for Mount, should the unthinkable happen.

There does still appear to be an expectation that an agreement will be reached eventually, but if Chelsea are looking to the transfer market, there is legitimate cause for concern.

Mount graduated from the Chelsea academy and is now a fully-fledged first-team player. You’d think that’d be enough for him, but by the sound of this report, perhaps not…
