ICYMI: Katie Taylor Dominates Miriam Gutierrez To Retain Undisputed Title

Irish boxing legend and undisputed lightweight world champion Katie Taylor successfully defended her crown with a very convincing win over Miriam Gutierrez on Saturday night.

The bout was Taylor’s first fight since her gruelling battle with Delfine Persoon and the Bray native turned her titles’ defence into nothing more than a glorified sparring session winning on unanimous decision after completely demolishing Gutierrez.

The Judges at Wembley in London scored the match as 100-89, 100-90 and 99-91 all in favour of Taylor, who is now 17-0 in her professional career.

Following her victory Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn suggested bouts against opponents such as Cris Cyborg, Amanda Serrano, Jessica McCaskill and Cecilia Braekhus stating “I think there’s no fight she wouldn’t take,” said Hearn.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 after the fight Taylor said: “I wanted to stamp my authority early. I thought I hurt her in the first. She was very heavy handed and tough, it was a great 10 rounds and I am very happy.

“There’s so many huge fights and I want to take every single one of them.”
