Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been catching heat on social media after committing a seriously dirty foul on Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta.

Ibrahimovic featured for Sweden during their World Cup qualifier against Spain on Sunday evening, during which Alvaro Morata scored an 86th-minute winner to send La Roja to Qatar.

Sweden were fortunate to have finished the game with 11 men, with substitute Ibrahimovic having barged Azpilicueta into teammate Aymeric Laporte.

It was a deliberate attempt to injure Azpilicueta from Ibrahimovic, with the Chelsea skipper fortunate not to have damaged his neck. Have a look at the clip below…

Nobody could ever deny what a fantastic footballer Ibrahimovic has been throughout his career, but he certainly has a nasty streak and showed it last night.

There was absolutely no need for the barge that he launched into Azpilicueta. He had no motive beyond trying to hurt him, which is not something we ever want to see on a football pitch.

Thankfully, Azpi does not appear to have sustained any lasting damage. He took to Twitter to inform his fans that he was lucky enough to escape unharmed.
