Ian Wright SLAMS Graeme Souness for DISRESPECTFUL comments about French player

Ian Wright wasn’t too impressed with Graeme Souness’ comments about Olivier Giroud last week.

Giroud has been sensational in the tournament so far and even broke Thierry Henry’s record as the all-time highest goal scorer against Poland last weekend.

He has shown what a key asset he is for Didier Deschamps but not everyone is convinced by the former Arsenal striker.

Souness who was working as a pundit for France’s game against Denmark, labelled Giroud as ‘lucky’ and stated that if Karim Benzema was still in the team he wouldn’t ‘get a look-in at this World Cup’.

Speaking on The Wright House podcast, Wright hit out at Souness for his ‘disrespectful’ comments.

“We have to give him his flowers. He’s broken Thierry’s record and long may that last. It’s the lack of respect he gets. Souness was so disrespectful to him. He didn’t give him no credit.

“This is what people like Graeme Souness and a lot of people don’t understand. He’s so integral to the team, whether it’s Mbappe in there or Dembele. I don’t think there’s a better target man in the world in the way that he links the play.”

At the age of 36, what Giroud has done in his career is phenomenal and whether Souness likes it or not, he will go down in the history books.
