A true Clare hurling legend Jackie O’Gorman sadly passed away this week and we send our condolences to his close family and friends at this time.

Rated as “arguably one of the finest defenders that ever wore the Saffron and Blue”, Jackie O’Gorman was a key part of the great Clare hurling teams of the 1970s, lining out for his county in every single provincial championship from 1968 to 1979.

He played in four Munster Finals – in 1972, 1974, 1977 and 1978 – and in the back-to-back National Hurling League wins of 1977 and 1978.

His club, Cratloe GAA posted a heartfelt tribute on Facebook following the news of Mr O’Gorman’s passing that simply read “Codladh Samh, Ár Laoch” (Sleep well, our hero).
