According to recent reports, Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, who is edging closer to becoming an official Manchester United player, is set to pocket a huge pay rise.

That’s according to a recent report from French outlet L’Equipe recently wrote (via Sports Witness), who claim the 2018 World Cup winner will see his earnings double once his transfer to Old Trafford is finalised.

The outlet notes that although earning more money was not the Frenchman’s main motivation, he is set to pocket a cool £214,000 per week, which is virtually double what he earns at Real Madrid.

Manchester United’s hierarchy is understood to have recently agreed an impressive £42m transfer for Varane, with a medical expected to take place shortly.

If and when the 28-year-old centre-back becomes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s third summer signing, Varane will end his decade long spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Having joined from RC Lens all the way back in 2011, the French defender has gone on to feature in a whopping 360 matches, in all competitions and has lifted 18 major trophies, including a stunning four Champions Leagues.
