Henry Shefflin Appointed Galway Senior Hurling Manager

Posted by

The former nine time All-Ireland winner with Kilkenny Henry Shefflin has joined Galway as their head coach for the coming season. King Henry has done an excellent job coaching his club side Ballyhale Shamrocks winning two county titles, two Leinster’s and two All-Ireland’s. Not a bad CV so far in Shefflin’s management for one of the best hurlers that ever played the game.

Can Henry Shefflin get Joe Canning back out of retirement to tog out for the tribesmen next summer? This is definitely going to add a bit of spice to the All-Ireland Championship, epically Leinster where Galway could well face Shefflin’s native Kilkenny and his former manager Brian Cody.

There is a lot of good young hurlers coming though Galway and with Brian Cody staying on for another year with the cats and doesn’t look to be going anywhere soon it makes perfect sense for Shefflin to try his hand at management with another country other then his own. We wish him all the best in his new role, interesting summer of hurling ahead for 2022.
