The Meath man wasn’t one bit happy with the coverage of Brian Cody and Henry Shefflin shaking hands at full-time in the Leinster hurling final. It was a dull enough Leinster hurling final that saw the cats win three Leinster’s in a row, final score being 0-17 to 0-22.
After the game the RTE cameras were all over Henry Shefflin the Galway manager and Brian Cody the Kilkenny manager. Hector wasn’t happy with this and took to his twitter to say;
Handshake blown up again by the constant camera on the 2 boys & the RTE director making sure they stay on Shefflin & Cody … ignoring the joy of the Kilkenny players in their moment of victory … it’s a Leinster Final

Was it hards on RTE or does Hector have a point in his summary?
Totally agree with Hector. Joanne Cantwell even criticised the Handshake. It was RTE who blew this thing out of proportion following the first game in Salthill. If they hadn’t there would have been very little talk about it. Joanne Cantwell had to back track and acknowledge that Henry Sheflin stood in the tunnel to shake hands with every Kilkenny player. Maybe Joanne should get out of Sport and join the Drama Department in RTE if that is what she is after.
RTE were correct to highlight the only aspect in or on the periphery of the game that was interesting after a dull match.
Rte were wrong to follow the managers ,
Sorry guys it was extraordinary,to be honest, with the history involved.
Paper never refuses ink …..seems the director had a vested interested in a nothing event which was a pity after such a splendid game …well done limerick ….from a clare supporter
RTE should have shown maturity and focus on the players and fans….far too much been made of a handshake.
Completely correct, rte getting like the paparazzi always looking for the bad in everything
Brian and Henry are two real gents
Joanne… looking for her minute of Fame. .. cop on
That Johane cantilane .is a waste of space.Rte should hire Hector to do Sunday game on match days get rid of her Hector would boost viewing figures they got rid Joe brolly and kept her on The are a joke anyway
Rte split cameras on big screen before the game, genuine hurling fans have no interest in hand shakes that only are brief second anyways,shame on national broadcaster.
rte bit like sky sports looking for drama
I would like to congratulate the ref in the Munster final. He let game flow and some heavy tackles went unpunished for both sides. Reminded me of hurling in the 60 ies but less pace. Gaa give the Wicklow man the final.
I think that shefflin was obviously disappointed in game and that why he was reluctant to shake hands it was a pressure from rte tv camera
Cody brought it on himself. I watch premier league managers hugging their former protoges turned managers, maybe Cody is more like Alex Fergusson.
