Eddie Hearn reveals he’s working on another HUGE heavyweight matchup

Eddie Hearn has revealed that he is attempting to broker a deal to host a heavyweight matchup between Andy Ruiz Jr and Derek Chisora.

If Ruiz Jr were never to put on a pair of boxing gloves again, he would still go down as one of the most renowned foreign fighters in modern British boxing. The Mexican’s remarkable upset victory over then unified champion Anthony Joshua sent shockwaves around the globe.

In truth, Ruiz Jr has been pretty underwhelming ever since dethroning AJ, but he remains in and around the top ten to fifteen ranked heavyweights on the planet. He could now potentially be fighting yet another British fighter in Derek Chisora.

Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn has revealed his intention to stage a heavyweight bout between Ruiz Jr and Chisora, which could potentially take place later in the year. The financial intricacies are yet to be ironed out, but there appears to be a desire to get this fight on.

Chisora was defeated by Joseph Parker last time out and sustained a huge amount of punishment in the process. While that is not unusual for Dellboy, there were those who suggested that he ought to enjoy the cash he’s earned in his career and retire.

He doesn’t appear to have much interest in doing that, though, and the suggestion that he could fight Ruiz Jr tells us that he not only wants to continue fighting, but he wants to do so at a high level. Even at his grand old age!
