(Video) Chelsea pressing pays off as Kai Havertz gives Blues early lead over sloppy Tottenham

Chelsea have taken the lead over Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg through Kai Havertz.

Even at the peak of the Romelu Lukaku drama over the weekend, Chelsea managed to play some of their best football of the season to overturn a two-goal deficit against Liverpool.

That will have spurred them on heading into tonight’s game against Tottenham in the first-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

After a bright start from the Blues, they found the back of the net within the space of five minutes, having taken full advantage of Tottenham’s sloppiness at the back.

It was Kai Havertz who found himself 1-v-1 with the goalkeeper courtesy of some strong pressing from his teammates.

His effort was deflected home by Davinson Sanchez, but may well have been nestling in the bottom corner of the net regardless.

There’s a long way to go in this one, but it’s Chelsea who have struck first in the derby!
