WATCH: Celtic loanee Leigh Griffiths kicks smoke bomb into crowd after “pedo” chants

Posted by

Scottish footballer Leigh Griffiths wasn’t best pleased yesterday evening after chants from the crowd accused him of being a pedophile.

Griffiths is one of the most recognisable Scottish footballers of his generation. The 31-year-old has netted a total of 123 goals in 261 appearances over a seven-and-a-half year stint with Celtic.

The striker’s life was rocked over the summer, as Sky Sports report, after Griffiths was sent home from Celtic’s pre-season training camp as an investigation took place into alleged messages he sent to a 15-year-old girl.

However, as is mentioned in the report, the police found no evidence of any criminal wrongdoing from the Scot, with Griffiths remaining a free man and joining Dundee on loan for the season.

It was with Dundee what Griffiths was playing yesterday evening in a cup defeat to St. Johnstone. The opposition fans were not prepared to let him forget the alleged incident with the teenager, despite the fact there was no criminal action taken against him.

As the fans chants “pedo” at Griffiths, he kicked a smoke bomb into the stand. There have been no reports of any injuries, but this is not acceptable and he ought to be given a hefty punishment.
