Graham Potter reveals his thoughts about VAR

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has revealed his thoughts about VAR after its multiple controversies last weekend.

Potter in his pre-Southampton press conference yesterday admitted that if he had a choice, he wouldn’t have brought VAR into the game.

I have no issues with it at all, although I wouldn’t have had it in the first place, I’m a romantic traditionalist and I quite like the refs and the linesmen making the decisions themselves.”

He then referenced how football is based around human error and questioned whether or not every decision in the game needs to be spot on.

I understand that fans want decisions to be correct, but do we want every single one to be correct, really? Because the element of human error is part of the sport, it is what gets people talking.

I think this drive for consistency is strange, but its certainly not easy being a VAR ref with all these pressurised decisions needing to be made, but they will get better at making them as time goes on.”
