Gary Lineker has revealed why he is ready to pay £8 a month to have the blue tick displayed on his Twitter profile.
Twitter users were hit with the news recently that everyone who had previously had blue ticks on their profile would be having them removed – with the £8 p/month fee needing to be paid if they wanted it to return.
More outrage has come following the news, with Twitter owner Elon Musk reportedly paying the fee for the likes of Stephen King and Lebron James to maintain their blue tick status.
Now, Lineker has revealed the reason why he is paying the money to have the tick returned to his account.
Screenwriter Jemima Goldsmith tweeted yesterday that she wasn’t a fan of the fact you had just half an hour to edit a tweet once it had been posted, saying she now belongs in the “uncool gang”, with Lineker quote tweeting the admission, saying “same here”.
