Gareth Southgate has sent a warning to England’s Euro 2020 competitors following victory over the Czech Republic in their final group fixture.
The Three Lions progressed to the knockout stages of the competition as group winners, having beaten the Czechs 1-0 at Wembley on Tuesday evening.
There are tougher challenges ahead of England, with either France, Germany or Portugal waiting in the next round, but Southgate doesn’t appear phased.
Speaking in wake of last night’s game, Southgate insisted that there is more to come from England, who are yet to produce their best possible performance level.

He’s quoted by the Daily Mail saying:
“There is more to come from us, definitely. We are not fluent but we have moments where we look a good side.”
“Who knows whether that is going to be a good draw or not but we wanted to win the group, we wanted to stay at Wembley and we will wait and see who we play.”
“World champions (France) Euro champions (Portugal) and Germany – who look back on song – will be tough opponents but we’ve known that for 18 months. But we look difficult to beat.”
Seven points from a possible nine, without conceding a goal, represents an impressive group stage campaign, no matter the strength of England’s opponents.
However, anyone who has watched Southgate’s men play in the competition to date will have to concede that improvement is needed if they are to go any further.
