Gareth Southgate makes FINAL DECISION on England managerial future

Gareth Southgate has made the decision to stay on as England manager, as the 52-year old looks set to guide England into Euro 2024 before his contract runs out at the end of that year.

The announcement has brought about mixed reactions among fans, with many feeling that the Three Lions will continue to falter at the back end of major tournaments as long as he is in charge.

Since Southgate has been in charge, England have only beaten three teams in the world’s top 12 at major tournaments which has fans worried about the team’s ability to compete with the big boys when it matters most. The last three major competitions have seen England beaten in the semi-final, final and quarter-final which naturally hasn’t given the fans much cause for optimism.

However, England’s overall performance in Qatar and Southgate’s use of a back four which the country has been craving for does provide some hope that England can still get better under him, so perhaps his decision to remain as manager might be a blessing in disguise for the nation, who will be hoping for better things to come in two years time.
