For all those football fans out there who detest Tottenham Hotspur, which is pretty much everyone other than the Spurs fans themselves, you’ll love this.

Gareth Bale has essentially used his former side as a gym membership.

Bale re-signed for Spurs on a season-long loan last summer, with the Welshman’s career as a Real Madrid player seemingly coming to an end.

It took some time for Bale to produce his best performance level, with the 31-year-old only really beginning to hit his stride over the past month.

That may well have left Daniel Levy keen to keep him around, but Bale’s taken that option off the table, with a pretty savage snub of his current employers.

As quoted by Sky Sports, Bale has revealed that his intention is not to sign for Spurs, he just wanted to get his fitness up ahead of the European Championships.

“I think the main reason I came to Spurs this year was to play football first and foremost.”

“Going into the Euros I wanted to be match-fit. The original plan was to do a season at Spurs and after the Euros still have a year left at Real Madrid.

“My plan is to go back, that’s as far I have planned.”

You get the impression that’s not going to go down well in the white half of North London, especially ahead of the top four run-in and Carabao Cup final.
