Armagh took on Donegal on Sunday at Ballybofey in the Division one of the national football league. One thing that is raising a lot of eyebrows and causing a lot of chat online is the fact that the Armagh team stayed over night in a hotel despite only being about two hour drive from the ground ..

GAA Inter County spending will continue to snowball and become unsustainable if Co Boards don't say stop. Armagh stayed over night in Letterkenny for a 3.45 pm game in Ballybofey on Sunday. Good for local businesses but surely an unnecessary expense for Armagh Co Board.

Excellent point John, the expenses are gone over the top now. While local businesses in Letterkenny would have benefited financially, it’s crazy staying over for a 3:45pm match
For the commitment these lads are giving to the county jersey, why not give them every opportunity to be 100% prepared. They generate the money at the gates. They deserve a slice of income. These lads are professionals. Treat them accordingly. There are more excessive expenses I’d bemoan than a player(s) getting an overnight. I get the journey times but it no always about that, prep / meeting / etc that have to be considered. Least they from all their input to the game and the coffers of the association, No?Agree regarding spending but wouldn’t look at players staying over first. What about all the backroom teams, co board members etc? Some counties now have a full 2nd bus for all the extra people they have involved. Maybe spending could be cut a bit therePerfectly good plan. Alternative is to spend at least two and a half hours on a bus before an important match.
It’s an amateur game, or I hope it still is.
Jaysus you really are scraping the barrel on this one. Get a foooooking life.
But sure as luck NF as you can’t report proper journalism then Sun style shite is your level. Numpty!
GAA stopped being an amateur organisation many decades ago. Turn up at the gate of any ground and you will have to pay to get in.
If GAA football, hurling and camogie are amateur games, then watching them should cost nothing too.
Does tinkerbell and her friends maintain the thousands of pitches and stadiums all around the country or who does that ?
