A Wicklow GAA post on Wednesday ‘announced’ the approval of a €160million redevelopment of Echelon Park in Aughrim.
However, it also ‘joked’ that the LGFA and Camogie Association would be sharing the stadium as ‘equal partners’.

The comments below from mostly men are very telling. The “joke” wasn’t remotely funny. Many have copped on already, but the rest of the GAA should embrace contemporary life.April Fools is no longer funny IMO. When I was a kid it was harmless fun like gluing a coin to the ground and other silly pranks, but now it seems to be an excuse to spread misinformation and hoax news stories
Incredible that someone thought it was appropriate to do that. Just goes to show how far we have to go yet in getting equality for women’s sports.
