A court heard former Dublin GAA star Diarmuid Connolly punched two men and dragged one of them along the ground in an “unprovoked” attack on New Year’s Eve.
The 36-year-old, with an address at Collinswood in Beaumont, was accused of assaulting Stephen Grimes and Stephen Kiely at Shantalla Road in Santry, Dublin on the 31st of December 2022.
He appeared at Dublin District Court today to plead guilty before Judge Michele Finan.
She ordered him to pay €2,000 compensation and adjourned sentencing until June 27th.

Interesting how low key the Dublin media coverage was compared to a similar case with a Limerick hurler earlier this year. 🤷
He’ll be fine, he’s a sports star.
John Kiely is en route with a character reference……. #Limerick
To much alcohol??? Go home then.
