As we enter the business end of the Championship season and the finals set to be played at the end of this month. Head of the GPA Tom Parsons was speaking in front of the media this week and said the following;

“expanding the season with increased playing demands is not a solution” as he revealed that 85 per cent of players continue to support the split season.

Renewing calls for the abandonment of pre-season competitions, Parson will say in his address to the GPA’s AGM this morning that the GAA “is trying to squeeze to many competitions into an agreed window for inter-county players”.

“A key challenge is the new structures were designed with the intention of pausing the pre-season competitions, and the GAA is trying to squeeze too many competitions into an agreed window for inter-county players,” said Parsons.

    1. Scrap the provincials and merge league and championship. Grab the nettle and we will have a proper competition.

  1. Back to September or late August at least . Ask the people who go to the games as they are the people who pay. J

    1. Well said John Daly.And play both the club Hurling and Gaelic Football All Ireland finals on paddys day.

  2. Asking players to play 3 games in 3 weeks is to much have the top 2 teams in each group play in QFs it is daft a team who only 1 match still in the competition

  3. Club and intercounty players have bought into the season as it stands league is good maybe too many games in all ireland championship should consider doing away with provincal games and giving students time off for college competitions early in the year
