Clare took on Limerick last weekend and some viewers weren’t happy with the camera angles that were being provided by GAA streaming service Clubber. As you can see above and below there was a pole in the way of the view .. See the comments below of more that was discussed ..

Their prices are so unjustified for the production quality
Forget about the production quality they are charging to much just to watch a mikey mouse pre season game full of youths
For clarification, the pole you see in this shot is from the net the runs around the whole astro pitch, they dropped it down for this and the football game last week, they were using a scissor lift on the path outside the wire, why they had it back so far from the wire I don’t know, like it was a good few feet back rather than right against the fence
Interestingly both Clare and Limerick had tower cameras that were higher than clubbers cameras.
It seems the only way to get good value is to buy the annual pass, which I did. I loved watching club games during Covid. I’d never have had the chance to go to them in person. Im enjoying watching them now too as well as the pre-season competitions for county teams.
The US games are massively subsidised by advertising. I do NOT want to watch advertising so will happily pay a bit more.
Just to put into context what they are charging. This game was likely around the 12 euro mark.
American sports streaming sites are normally maybe 2 or 3 dollars per game for a world class production.
I know it’s not a fair comparison but of course everyone is going to look through a lens like the above when taking into account whether it’s worth taking their bank card out of their wallet or not.
I guess it depends how you make peace with this to be honest. They are showing a heck of a lot of games that never used to be televised before (I remember when no pre season games were shown at all except for maybe the final of the competition on TG4) and I would imagine they are realistically making a loss on these games. Pre season games are also played in smaller club grounds without proper facilities and I do not envy the poor camera operator at these games. I’ve seen them stood up on a makeshift platform with a tiny camera set up in gale force winds and the guy or girl on the day is doing their best. As others have said, you’re also probably dealing with some self righteous bollocks in a yellow jacket directing them where to go (we all know the type of person I’m talking about at GAA grounds).
So you’re paying a premium to stay at home in front of a roaring fire while some poor soul is sent to film it as best as they can. I guess that’s how I’d make peace with it.
Is it good value for money given the production? Absolutely not but remember these games never used to be shown at all.
