Mayo native John Cosgrove sadly passed away last week, John was a former principal of Boys National School in Crossmolina, but also a former Mayo GAA club member and referee.
Mayo GAA paid tribute to John with a lovely message on their website reading: “John was a club, County and Intercounty referee, he played with his club Crossmolina Deel Rovers. He was a two- time All Ireland winner of Scór Trath na gCeist.
“John loved Irish and history and had written two books of the history of Crossmolina Deel Rovers and one of Lacken Sarsfields. He will be missed by his club Crossmolina Deel Rover and all at Mayo GAA
“Mayo GAA extend their deepest sympathies to John’s family and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis.”
