Tyson Fury has suggested that Deontay Wilder is mentally unwell ahead of their upcoming trilogy fight.

Fury is not only one of the best fighters on the planet, but also an advocate for mental health issues.

The British boxer has been pushed to the very edge by his ill mental health, so knows the telltale signs when someone is beginning to head down a dark path.

Speaking to the press ahead of his trilogy bout with American power-puncher Deontay Wilder, Fury suggested that his opponent may well be struggling himself.

During an interview with Behind The Gloves, Fury made the comments that are unlikely to sit well with rival Wilder, just days before the pair meet in the ring for a third time.

“I don’t really make nothing much of his opinions of late, because it’s an opinion of an unwell person.”

“I’ve been mentally unwell myself before and I’ve said some stuff when I’ve been mentally unwell that a sane person wouldn’t say. So there’s a lot of stuff going on with Deontay Wilder.”

“Does that sound like a sane person? Talking to himself, saying s*** like that. I don’t know, the guy’s crazy.”

As the bell goes for the opening round of the big fight on Saturday night, we ought to have a clearer idea of the mental demons bothering Wilder in the build-up.
