Tyson Fury vacating his WBC heavyweight title COULD set up a bout between Dillian Whyte and Deontay Wilder, reports talkSPORT’s Michael Benson.
While Fury is expected to defend his WBC belt against compatriot Whyte early next year, there is at this point no guarantees that the Gypsy King will reach an agreement to do so.
His promoter, Frank Warren, last week insinuated that Fury could vacate the belt if unable to agree terms with Whyte and move onto alternative endeavours.
While nobody wants to see that, with Fury on a collision course with the winner of Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk II, it is a possibility that we now need to entertain.

As is reported by talkSPORT’s Michael Benson, it wouldn’t ALL be bad news, with a potential vacation of Fury’s belt setting up another mouth-watering bout.
Hypothetically, if Tyson Fury did vacate his WBC title and fight someone other than Dillian Whyte next, as Bob Arum seemed to suggest was a possibility over the weekend, then it would most likely be Whyte vs Deontay Wilder (WBC ranked #1) ordered for the vacant belt.

It remains to be seen what decision Fury and his team will make, and we would rather see him fight Whyte in early 2022, but if that doesn’t materialise, Whyte vs Wilder is not a bad second pick.
And you never know, were Wilder to knock Whyte out cold, we could even see a FOURTH fight between him and Fury, once again over the WBC heavyweight title.
Let’s put a pin in the speculating for now and wait and see how it plays out…
