Referee Kevin Friend has shown off his sense of humour by booking the Aston Villa fans in attendance at Ashton Gate for calling him “just a s*** Mike Dean.”

It’s not often we get to see referees let their hair down, but it’s worth every minute of their jobsworth-ing throughout the course of the season when they do crack a smile.

Premier League ref Michael Oliver went viral during Euro 2020 for belting out a rather stiff rendition of’Freed From Desire’ at Wembley. His colleague Kevin Friend has proven he too can unwind and have a laugh.

During Aston Villa’s battering of Bristol City on Saturday afternoon, Friend was met with chants from the Villa supporters, during which they said, “you’re just a s*** Mike Dean.”
