During an interview with talkSPORT former Aston Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor said that Mesut Ozil should ‘take every penny’ from Arsenal before he moves away from the club.

Speaking on The Sports Bar Weekender Agbonlahor said: “Clubs treat players badly when they don’t want them, let’s not be fooled here.”

“Yes, Ozil has done things that he maybe shouldn’t have done and the way he’s acted but no one forced Arsenal to give him £350,000-a-week… take every penny!

“Why should he say, ‘I love Arsenal and I’m going to leave seven or eight million on the table and move because I love the club’?

“No! Why should he?

“When the club don’t want you, they’d be the first to throw you in the Under-23s and make you train on your own.

“So I’m all for players getting what they’re contracted to get. I don’t blame him for sitting there and getting every penny.”

According to The Sun Arsenal fear that Mesut Ozil won’t leave the club in the January transfer window and will instead opt to stay at the club to collect the £8.75 million he will get in wages between now and the end of June.

Ozil makes a staggering £350,000 a week and should he stay to collect his last 25 weeks wages at Arsenal he will scoop £8.75 million for doing absolutely nothing.

The Daily Cannon have also reported that the German’s contract is structured in such a way that should he see his contract through to the end he will also be due a large ‘loyalty bonus.’

According to The Mirror Ozil is ready to make a move to Fenerbache and end his nightmare at the Emirates which has seen him left out the clubs Premier League and Champions League squads.

Turkish broadcaster NTVSpor claims the deal has been agreed, after Ozil was exiled in north London under Mikel Arteta.

Last month Fenerbahce congress member Murat Zorlu said he was “90 per cent sure” Ozil will make a move to Turkey in the January transfer window.

In an interview with Sport Digitale Zorlu said : “A source, who’s very well connected to the club has told me that Mesut Ozil is likely to become a Fenerbahce player during the next transfer window.

“I would say 90% he will join us in one month.”

Ozil’s contract is set to expire in the summer and Arsenal are desperate to get him off their wage bill after the World Cup winner signed a monster deal worth £350,000-a-week in Arsene Wenger’s final season.

Ozil moved to Arsenal in 2013 from Real Madrid for a then club record £42.5m and has gone on to make 254 appearances and scoring 44 goals.
