Nottingham Forest have taken a SHOCK lead over Liverpool through summer signing Taiwo Awoniyi.
Following their victory over Manchester City and subsequent win over West Ham United, Liverpool fans could have been forgiven for thinking they’d turned a corner.
Liverpool endured a difficult start to the campaign and the panic alarms began to sound, but it looked as though, despite a flurry of injuries, the ship had steadied at Anfield.
At Anfield, perhaps, but upon visiting the Forest Ground this afternoon, a stadium in which they have never won before, Liverpool’s fortunes have taken another turn for the worse.
Forest held Liverpool at the half-time break and Klopp’s side responded in the second half with quicker tempo in their passing, build-up play and pressing – but now they trail.
Out of essentially nothing, from a Forest set-piece, Liverpool have found themselves a goal behind after summer acquisition Taiwo Awoniyi found the back of the net.
It’s not the greatest goal he’ll ever score – but it could be a HUGE one for Steve Cooper’s men!
