Shamrock Rovers’ next three games have been postponed after two of their players tested positive for Covid-19.

Republic of Ireland international Jack Byrne and his teammate Aaron Greene both tested positive for coronavirus.

Tomorrow’s game against Derry City was due to be aired live on RTÉ and Rovers could have claimed the League of Ireland Premier Division title with three points.

However, the FAI has announced that this game and their scheduled clashes with Finn Harps and St Patrick’s Athletic (scheduled for October 19th and October 23rd) will be posponed.

An FAI statement read: “The SSE Airtricity League have postponed Shamrock Rovers’ next three fixtures, including tomorrow’s match against Derry City.

“One positive COVID-19 case has been identified in the Shamrock Rovers squad and due to the high number of close contacts within the squad, Shamrock Rovers’ fixtures will be rescheduled.”
