🚨 Jamie Carragher praises Declan Rice for what he did after Myles Lewis-Skelly copied Erling Haaland’s celebration

Arsenal thumped Manchester City 5-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners went ahead after an early strike from their skipper Martin Odegaard.

This led to Gabriel then celebrating wildly in Erling Haaland’s face, rekindling their feud from the game at the Etihad Stadium that ended 2-2.

Following that, Kai Havertz, then missed a glorious chance to make it two with Gary Neville on commentary saying he looks like he lacked confidence and his finish was woeful at best.

City hit-back after half-time with Haaland powering home a thumping header.

But, parity was short lived as Thomas Partey’s deflected strike flew past Ortega in goal.

Myles Lewis-Skelly then put the game to bed curling in a third for Arteta’s men before hitting Haaland’s own celebration.

Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri then sealed a huge win for the North Londoners as they challenge Liverpool for the Premier League title.

Declan Rice earns praise from Jamie Carragher after Myles Lewis-Skelly celebration.

Speaking on Sky Sports Monday Night Football, the ex-Liverpool defender said: “I didn’t like this (the celebration) to be honest, because he’s a young player. You know, mimicking Haaland and taking the mick out of him.

“But I think as a young player – and I know we all get carried away with ourselves as a young player – but I just think what Declan Rice did there…

“He pulled him up. He’s still celebrating in the corner. Listen, it’s a huge moment for him, but Declan Rice is telling him to get back in position.

“And when I think about leaders in that dressing room and being a senior player…

“Look at Declan Rice telling them: ‘Get back in position! Let’s not get carried away!’

“This is what senior pros should be doing in the dressing room to young players.”

Next up for Arsenal is the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg away at Newcastle United on Wednesday.

The Gunners have it all to do having lost the first leg 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
