Football coach thrown in prison for sex offences and manipulation involving teenage girl

An ex-football coach at a school has been thrown in prison for sex offences involving a teenage girl, reports the Independent.

The report notes that Daniel Moss from Essex has appeared at Wood green crown court and has been sentenced to a total of 16 months in prison for engaging in sexual activity with a child while operating in a position of trust.

The former football coach, as the report states, encouraged the girl in question to engage in sexual activity with him after she turned 16. The Metropolitan Police said that Moss had “abused his influential, senior position to manipulate the victim and keep their relationship hidden.”

The relationship is believed to have spanned from October 2017 to November 2018, with the girl’s friends growing concerned and having reported it to the school, who investigated the matter in cooperation with the police.

Moss has been put on the sex offender’s register and will never be allowed to work with children again after he is released from prison once his sentence is served.

This is yet another example of people using positions of influence to pressure the vulnerable into sexual relations. In this case, we’re glad to hear it has resulted in prison time for Moss, as well as the end of his career in football coaching.
