Fans are furious with Liverpool midfielder, Fabinho after his horror challenge to young Irish striker Evan Ferguson.
Jurgen Klopp’s side crashed out of the FA Cup after losing 2-1 to Brighton, thanks to a late late winner from Kaoru Mitoma. This is the second time the Seagulls have bested Liverpool, winning 3-0 in the league earlier this season.
At the end of the day, Brighton deserved the win but many thought that Liverpool should’ve had a man sent off after a horror challenge from Fabinho.
The Brazilian midfielder took a nibble at Ferguson’s heel before driving his studs into the 18-year-old’s calf.
I genuinely think this may be the worst VAR decision that I’ve seen.
It’s horrendous that the referee has got that one wrong in real time, but the fact that VAR haven’t overturned that is frightening.
Fabinho knows it too.

It seemed like everybody even Fabinho couldn’t believe that a red card wasn’t brandished.
As you can imagine, fans especially the Irish ones, weren’t too pleased with the challenge.
More on that Fabinho tackle.
Evan Ferguson, 18, was distressed and in pain as he hobbled town the tunnel. Fabinho, embarrassed, was shaking his head as left the pitch.
All these years on from Van Basten etc, football still can’t punish violent ankle challenges from behind?— Paul Hayward (@_PaulHayward) January 29, 2023
An outrageously bad challenge from Fabinho on Evan Ferguson. Absolutely staggeringly, VAR do not upgrade to a red card. Cannot wait for PGMOL’s statement about how, despite all the evidence of your eyes, the officials were actually correct.
