(Video) Fan sprints onto pitch for Mason Mount selfie… and almost slide tackles him!

A supporter at Vicarage Road last night sprinted onto the pitch to get a selfie with Chelsea and England star Mason Mount.

Mount was in phenomenal form as a heavily-rotated and lacklustre Chelsea side edged past Watford, a victory which even manager Thomas Tuchel branded “lucky.”

The goal and assist provided by Mount ultimately made the difference, with the midfielder seemingly on his way back to his best after recovering from wisdom teeth removal.

Having witnessed a masterful display from the 22-year-old, one fan in attendance couldn’t resist but to jump onto the pitch and leg it towards Mount in hope of grabbing a selfie.

Here’s the clip of the fan in question invading the turf. He slips just before reaching Mount, running the risk of slide-tackling the Chelsea star – which would’ve been rather embarrassing.

Nevertheless, he manages to get to his feet and pull out his phone before being greeted by the Vicarage Road security team. Mount agreed to the selfie, although the fan appears to have failed to get himself in it!

While in this instance the fan only had good intentions, it is slightly concerning to see how often fans are now successfully getting onto the pitch and getting face-to-face with the players.

We can’t help but feel like it’s an accident waiting to happen…
