Exclusive Fabrizio Romano Column: Harry Kane latest, Jordan Henderson scare for Liverpool, Chelsea’s difficult striker hunt, and more

The negotiations come to life in the last month of the transfer market, with so many deals still to be completed…

Tottenham identify perfect target, plus the latest on Harry Kane…

First of all Tottenham have been in direct negotiations with Atalanta for Cristian Romero for days but there is still no definitive agreement. The Argentine defender is considered perfect and the director Fabio Paratici has known him for years, but Atalanta have not accepted even the latest Spurs offer: the request is €55million guaranteed, there is great tension between the two clubs now but we continue to negotiate. Romero also wants to play for Tottenham and will insist on closing this deal.

Manchester City are working to close the Jack Grealish deal in the coming days: the deadline is right next week, they must be in a hurry to prevent Jack from signing a new deal with Aston Villa. The board’s dream is to buy both Jack Grealish and Harry Kane, but for Kane there is still no new offer at Tottenham: Spurs want to keep Harry and are doing everything to convince him, from Daniel Levy to Paratici and Nuno. Only a strong stance by the player can change the situation. Tottenham are calm, but Manchester City are ready to “return to the scene” if things change.

Problems for Arsenal and Liverpool…

Arsenal, on the other hand, have no agreement with Leicester for James Maddison: the player is highly appreciated by the club but there are still no advanced negotiations, the price is very high. Ruben Neves is on the list of options but not in the first position, while the Locatelli affair remains complex because the player wants Juventus. For Bellerin, there is no advanced negotiation with Inter: the situation remains cautious and if the right offer does not arrive in the next few days, Arsenal’s plans with Hector could change.

Liverpool will have to resolve the Jordan Henderson issue because it is real that there is no agreement so far for his new contract: many clubs especially abroad appreciate him, there has been talk of PSG in France but the club still hopes to convince him to renew his contract, while there has been no offer at Atletico Madrid for Saul Niguez: Liverpool are among the English clubs that have inquired about Saul’s situation, the player would appreciate an experience in the Premier League but there is no offer because until the swap deal with Griezmann is definitively collapsed, Saul will not fly to England.

Clubs may have to wait for Haaland and Camavinga…

Eduardo Camavinga is in no hurry to decide on his next club: Manchester United have been informed about the situation and had direct contacts, they need at least € 35/40 million for Camavinga this summer. The player is waiting to see what will happen, but does not rule out leaving as a free agent next summer with many other clubs also from Spain together with PSG who would join the race.

For this summer, there is no chance to sign Robert Lewandowski for Chelsea. Inter define Romelu Lukaku as non-transferable and untouchable, another very complicated affair. That’s why the dream remains Erling Haaland, but from Borussia Dortmund the club’s version is clear: there is no offer on the table, not even an official approach. It will take madness to sell Haaland, not even €150million would be accepted.

And above all, Borussia will not wait until 25/30 August despite having already bought Donyell Malen: AC Milan followed him between October and December of last year but without ever making an offer to PSV Eindhoven, Liverpool only thought about it in case they sold Shaqiri and Origi faster. Dortmund, on the other hand, after selling Sancho closed the deal.
