Coming into Tuesday’s eagerly-anticipated match, Porto carried with them a narrow 2-1 lead.

However, despite being the odds-on-favourites to overturn their first-leg defeat, Juventus were eventually dumped in extra-time following a 115th-minute winner from Sergio Oliviera.

Oliviera’s late strike came from a direct free-kick which saw the Porto midfielder curl the ball over a crowded wall which saw Cristiano Ronaldo turn his back.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia after the match, former England manager Fabio Capello picked out world-class attacker Ronaldo as one of the Old Lady’s worst performers.

“That was an unforgivable error,” Capello said. “In my day, you chose the players who went into the wall and they couldn’t be someone afraid of the ball.

“They were scared of the ball and jumped away from it, turning their backs. That’s unforgivable.

“You see only the youngest players actually stepped in and showed their face during the tough moments. In this team, there are some veterans who turn up when they win to take the credit, then are nowhere to be seen when they lose.”
