Fabio Capello makes bizarre claim about Liverpool ahead of Inter Milan clash

Former England manager Fabio Capello is not particularly impressed with Inter Milan’s Champions League opponents Liverpool.

The Italian champions will be hosting Jurgen Klopp’s men at the San Siro tonight, a ground in which Liverpool have already triumphed this campaign, having beaten AC Milan in the competition’s group stage.

Liverpool will be hoping to put Inter to the sword in the same manner they did with their arch-rivals, but former England manager Fabio Capello doesn’t appear to fancy their chances.

Speaking to Sky Italia, and quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Capello revealed his belief that the current version of Liverpool doesn’t measure up to how good they were a few months ago.

“The current Liverpool is not the same side it was a few months ago. Klopp said it was his strongest team? Well, he would say that, what do you expect him to say?”

“The Liverpool goalkeeper has recently been Man of the Match in every game. That says a great deal about how they are defending.”

Capello’s comments have left Liverpool fans understandably puzzled. Klopp’s men are yet to be eliminated from a single competition and still retain an outside chance of winning the Premier League.

It’s hard to imagine exactly what the Italian saw in Liverpool a few months ago that he doesn’t see now, but perhaps his genius will be proven when the two sides run out at the San Siro tonight…
