Patrick Vieira will NOT face punishment from the FA following an altercation with a fan on the field of play, reports the Daily Mail.
Everton fans stormed onto the pitch after the Toffees completed a remarkable second-half turnaround against Crystal Palace to ensure that they would be staying in the Premier League.
While many were merely jubilant and celebrating their team’s survival, others took things too far and ruined it for everyone.
One fan, in particular, could be seen goading Palace manager Patrick Vieira as he strolled off the pitch. Vieira attempted to ignore him but subsequently lashed out with his leg.
As the Daily Mail report, both Merseyside Police and the FA have investigated the incident and both authorities have decided that Vieira should not be punished for his actions.
While violence is never the answer, the circumstances which built up to Vieira losing his cool have been taken into account and as a result, he has been let off the hook.
That is a real common-sense approach taken by the FA, one which we are not often accustomed to seeing from them. Now all they need to do is find a solution for the pitch invasions…
