Liverpool and Chelsea miss out on defenders

The transfer market is never sleeping. It ends a month of February that has already made a top transfer in view of the summer: Dayot Upamecano has signed with Bayern Munich, beating the competition of Liverpool and Chelsea.

One of the next high-level moves will be the final choice of David Alaba, a “luxury” free agent that PSG, Liverpool and Chelsea are continuing to contact as he’s going to leave Bayern. But Real Madrid are leading the race because they have already had a verbal agreement with Alaba for months and are hoping to conclude the transfer.

Where next for Erling Haaland?

There is also great attention to the future of Erling Haaland. His agent Mino Raiola has confirmed that there are ten top clubs that can buy him, but this summer the €75 million release clause will not be valid: who wants Haaland will have to negotiate with Borussia Dortmund, they will not want to discount anyone.

The clubs Raiola spoke of are Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, PSG and Bayern Munich, as well as Borussia. Haaland is currently focused on the Champions League and happy in Dortmund, the decisions will be made in the coming months.

Neymar and Lautaro Martinez going nowhere

PSG, on the other hand, now has an agreement with Neymar for the renewal of the contract. Again this is a verbal agreement, there are no signatures on the contract yet and the last details which will be completed very soon. Neymar wants to stay in Paris and will not leave.

Likewise, Lautaro Martinez will remain at Inter with whom he will soon extend his contract after being close to Barcelona in the summer of 2020.

Updates on Bale, Odegaard and more

Finally, other updates for other clubs: Tottenham continue to back José Mourinho and are not planning a change of manager, while in the summer a final decision will be made on Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid. Remaining in London, Arsenal are happy with how Martin Odegaard is settling into the club but discussions on his future will only take place in June when it is understood what Real Madrid will want to do for their project.

In Italy, AC Milan continues negotiations with Hakan Calhanoglu and Gigio Donnarumma for the renewal of the contract, but above all there is great satisfaction for the start of Fikayo Tomori. At Milanello they are very happy with this purchase and it will be considered in June whether to pay the €28 million to Chelsea. Lazio, on the other hand, is working on Francesco Acerbi’s contract extension, with the intention of retaining him as a leader for the next few years.
