Ex-Wife of 1966 World Cup winner reveals crazy story about former husband’s prized match shirt

The ex-wife of 1966 World Cup-winning captain Bobby Moore has revealed the defender’s match-winning shirt has gone missing.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Tina, who was married to Bobby from 1962 until 1986, revealed her desperation to get the shirt back after it was revealed that it had been put up for auction by a private buyer.

I would really love to get that shirt back where it belongs – with me, with my family, and with the nation, for everyone to have a chance to look at it and marvel at Bobby’s achievement.”

After having not seen the shirt in the attic for over 30 years, Tina received a call from the FA a couple of years after Bobby’s death in 1992 saying that a private buyer had their hands on it.

Tina went on to ask for any help hunting the shirt down, which is almost 60 years old.

If there is somebody out there who has the shirt, I appeal for them to come to us, and explain how they came about it.

I’m sure it’s been done in very good faith, but I don’t think the people or this person are aware of what’s happened.”

Hopefully the shirt can be retrieved so Moore’s former wife and his family can be given some piece of mind.
