Wednesday witnessed some truly farcical scenes relating to the Everton managerial position, which remains up for grabs.
Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was hounded out of Goodison Park. In truth, he was very really welcome.
That paved the way for those pulling the strings at the club to repair the relationship with the fans by appointing a manager who’d meet their desired criteria.
However, lead contender Vitor Pereira was not adjudged to be up to scratch, with the fans wanting Frank Lampard.

There has been a flurry of reports this afternoon that Lampard is now the lead contender for the role. Odds are as short as 1.50 with some bookies.
Pereira is not prepared to throw in the towel, though, and came back swinging with a quite extraordinary interview conducted with Sky Sports News.

It remains to be seen if Pereira’s interview will have the desired effect, but what it certainly has done is turned this situation into more of a circus than it already was.
Everton ought to appoint a manager who will get the fans onside quickly and look to steady the ship. Pereira doesn’t appear to be that man – but does Lampard have the credentials?
